JUST OUT - CRITICAL CMMC ANNOUNCEMENT
Critical information just released regarding CMMC Program.

The Rule for CMMC moved to the Office of Management and Budget. That means a timer has started, 90 days or less, for the review to complete. Expect the text to be published by mid-October. There is still a possibility that it will come out as an Interim Final Rule, which means it goes into new contracts 60 days later. But the majority opinion seems to be that it will be a Proposed Final Rule which would go into contracts about 8-12 months later, mid 2024.

WHAT IT MEANS:
The CMMC Mandates for those firms in the Department of Defense - Defense Industrial Base (DOD - DIB) Will need to be CMMC Compliant and Certified starting in 2024. OR not meet the requirements to bid on a contract as a Prime OR in the DIB, supplying components or Services to a Prime.

REALITY:
- The DIB consists of an estimated 300,000 firms.
- OF which, over 100,000 will need to be Certified by a Certified Third Party Assessor Organization (C3PAO).
- At present there are only 49 C3PAOs. Those C3PAOs cannot help firms become ready. They audit only!
- All experts observe  that it will take between 12 to 18 months to get ready for the CMMC Certification Audit, AND another 4 to 6 months process for the Certification Process.
- We all know that there is a major shortage of Cyber Security savvy talent available.

1. Understand IF you need to meet this CMMC Certification to continue your current projects and be able to participate in future opportunities.
